This family run guest house is in a village location near Stansted Airport.  It’s a lovely thatched cottage dating back to 1650.  The Willows Guest House hasn’t been reviewed on the internet yet, so we can’t give you a guest rating at the moment, but we’ll keep an eye out and let you know (March 2010).

This place is 2 miles away from Stansted Airport, but it’s not under the flight path, so there’s very little noise from the aircraft.  It’s in the village of Bambers Green and it takes 5 minutes to drive to the terminal.

Car parking is free during your stay, on-site at the guest house. You can book holiday parking at £5 for each extra day.  The owners will drive your car to and from an off-site car park, which has a security fence and a locked gate.  They’re insured for the journey but otherwise the car is left at your own risk and under your own insurance.  All parking places have to be reserved in advance with the Willows Guest House.

Check-in/out and breakfast

The normal times for checking in are from 3 pm to 10.30 pm, but you can get a late check-in if you’re arriving after that.  Check-out is between 4 am and 10 am.  A continental breakfast costs £6 extra and is served to you in your room.  You can order it for any time between 5.30 am and 9.30 am.

Shuttle bus

Willows Guest House provides free transfers to and from the airport, but only between 6 am and 10 am and 3 pm to 10 pm.  If you’re unlucky enough to have to travel outside those hours, you can catch a taxi to the airport, which will cost £6.50.

Hotel facilities

There’s no restaurant in the guest house but there are plenty of places to eat nearby, within a 2 mile drive.  They don’t have an internet connection at the Willows Guest House.

Guest rooms

There are 5 guest rooms ant they are all en suite and meet sound insulation regulations.  They each have a TV with Freeview channels, tea and coffee making facilities and a snack tray.  The rooms can be set up in 4 ways – twin, double, triple (with one double and one single, or 3 singles) or family/quad room (with 4 single beds or one double and 2 singles).  Kids over 5 years old are welcome.  The rooms also have a hairdryer, iron and board and extra pillows and blankets in case you get chilly.

Unfortunately the building doesn’t have any disabled access.

If you’re travelling by car, head towards Stansted Airport.  At the roundabout just before the terminal (Coopers End Roundabout) turn right towards Takeley. This is followed immediately by another small roundabout where you need to turn left towards Molehill Green, Broxted and Elsenham.  Go along here for just under a mile and take the right turn off to Bambers Green.  After another mile you’ll come to a T junction where you should turn left towards Bambers Green. The village green is about 200 yards along this road and the Willows Guest House is on your left in the middle of the green.   If you’re travelling by train, the nearest station is Stansted Airport.  The guest house provides free transfers from the terminal.

Airport views

There aren’t any views of the airport from here.  For that, we suggest you look at one of the on site hotels such as the Radisson SAS Stansted Airport.
